Sunday 18th March saw our annual trip to the London And Southern Counties Brass Band Association's Regional Championships. It was a cold, snowy trip for the band, and our MD almost didn't make it when his car broke down on the way. A quick trip to the local Halfords saw him sorted out, though.
The Band was drawn to play number 11. We played really well, and everyone came off stage smiling, which is always a good sign. It was the first contest for two of our players, Ned White and Della Dawe, who have both moved up from our B Band. We were very keen to improve on our disappointing 17th place last year and the band were delighted to be awarded 10th.
The comments from the adjudicators were very positive about the bands musicality and sound, and gave some constructive comments in the areas where the band didn't do quite so well.
Sheldon, our MD said 'It was great to have such a big band to go the regionals with this year. I was very please with how the band played, and there was real team spirit to the performance today. The result was a real improvement on last year and gives us a great platform to build on.'
