Friday 31st January saw the Band's Annual General Meeting and Prizegiving.
Outgoing Chairman, Bridget Owen, thanked everyone in the Band for their hard work over 2019 and asked them all to support the new committee with the plans which are being put in place to celebrate our centenary this year. She, in turn (and along with the rest of the outgoing committee) was thanks for her work managing the Band through a slightly rocky period last year.
On the formation of the new committee Beverley Gratwohl was elected to the Chair whilst Mikaela Barwick and Sharon Pumares remain as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Long-term committee members Laura Gratwohl and Tony Saunders re-joined the new committee along with William Pumares for his second year as our Junior Representative. Liz Saunders agreed to maintain the library (outside of the committee) and we welcomed Teresa Payman and Rebecca McNaught as new committee members.
As always, the highlight of the evening was our annual Prizegiving rewarding achievement in players, both young and old, over the past year. this years winners were:-
The Olive Kenny Award (Best Attendance in a player aged u21 in the Senior Band) - Della Dawe
The Chairman's Award (Best Attendance in the B-Band) - Anashe Mugaha
The Dorothy Pearman Award (Most Improved Player in the B-Band) - Lewis McVean and Megan Selway, jointly.
The Sid Pearman Award (In the Gift of our MD) - Liz Saunders
Players' Player (Voted for by the members of the Senior Band) - Tony Saunders.
